Here’s My Story

In 2022, while halfway through chiropractic school, Dr. Macie took an antibiotic called Ciprofloxacin that changed the course of her life. After just three days of taking the medication as prescribed, she experienced trouble walking, tearing pain in her Achilles tendons, neurological symptoms throughout her body, and intense brain fog. One morning, she woke up with extreme nausea and pain and went to the ER. Doctors said that her labs looked normal and advised her to complete the antibiotic course, but she knew something was terribly wrong.

After researching on her own, she discovered that Ciprofloxacin can cause severe side effects, leaving many people permanently disabled. It had a boxed warning label for severe reactions on the FDA insert, but no one cared enough to explain the risks. She was fortunate to recover fully—but the experience ignited a fire within her to help people understand what they are putting in and on their bodies.

Growing up, she had taken Advil, birth control, and multiple rounds of antibiotics for acne and gut issues—never realizing there was a root cause behind her symptoms. No doctor had ever dug deep enough or seemed to understand the underlying causes of “IBS”, acne, PCOS, or painful periods. They just threw more medication at her each time. This journey sparked her passion for functional health testing, integrative care, and root-cause healing, transforming both her life and her clinical philosophy.

Committed to advanced clinical training, Dr. Macie has completed extensive postgraduate coursework in functional medicine, clinical nutrition, blood chemistry analysis, and chronic illness protocols. Originally from Northeast Ohio, she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from The University of Alabama, then went on to graduate Cum Laude from Palmer College of Chiropractic. She is currently awaiting board examination for a 300-hour Diplomate program through the American Board of Chiropractic Internists (DABCI) and the American Clinical Board of Nutrition (DACBN), expanding her qualifications in functional diagnostics and evidence-based natural care.

Dr. Macie’s clinical focus includes complex, often overlooked conditions such as mold toxicity, neuroinflammation, intestinal permeability ("leaky gut"), stealth infections, autoimmunity, and biotoxin-related illness. In her free time, she continues to research these interconnected conditions—driven by curiosity, compassion, and a desire to help others reclaim their health.

Her areas of clinical expertise include:

  • Functional blood chemistry & lab analysis

  • Advanced hormone, gut, and organic acids testing

  • Immune system regulation & autoimmunity

  • Chronic stealth infections (mold, EBV, parasites, etc.)

  • Toxic burden assessment & personalized detoxification

  • Neuroinflammation & brain-immune-gut axis dysfunction

“ We have been conditioned to disregard the signs and symptoms that our bodies present to us. To suppress pain, inflammation, depression, anxiety, stomach aches, and other discomforts with medication. We can work in harmony with our bodies to find the root cause of our symptoms rather than suppressing them. ”
